About me
Antonio is a Swedish molecular biologist and entrepreneur from California. He was the cofounder of MicroSynbiotiX, an algal synthetic biology company that was developing plant-based oral vaccines and therapeutics for the aquaculture industry. The company was eventually acquired by SunDew ApS. Antonio obtained his B.Sc. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his M.Sc. from the University of Basel, both in molecular biology. During this time, he worked on the development of advanced 3D cell culture models and transcriptional reporters to study the regulation of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa hemolytic phospholipase PlcH, and helped demonstrate that it was regulated by c-di-GMP. Antonio then worked as a scientist at Novartis, performing genetic CRISPR screening of 3D organoids to find new potentially druggable targets. He is currently a PhD student studying Microbiology and Immunology at the Institute of Virology, University of Zürich.
